A road trip to Orlando would not be complete without a visit to the parks! Originally, the plan was that my mom was going to ride with me down to Orlando and we were just going to hang out at Disney Springs, and then my mom was going to fly back. But a couple weeks before we left, my mom decided that since we were going to be in Orlando that we might as well go to the parks together!
So I told her that she could pick which park and what we do since I was going to be here for the next 5 months. And she decided we would go to….Animal Kingdom!!! She wanted to see Pandora the World of Avatar and all of the new nighttime shows. So we woke up super early, I threw on my favorite sunflower ears, and we headed to Animal Kingdom!
As soon as we arrived we went straight to Pandora because we knew the lines would be crazy! We immediately hopped in line for Avatar Flights of Passage which was a 150 minute wait….but on the bright-side, the queue (the line) was really pretty because we had a perfect view of the floating mountains and the nature of Pandora.
The wait was 100% worth it. I recommend Flights of Passage to ANYONE at Animal Kingdom! It was only about a 2 hour and 15 minute wait but we were distracted by all of the scenery. And when you arrive inside, you step into the lab and get to see an actual Avatar. So there was plenty of things to keep us entertained. The ride had a sort of Soarin feel to it. You wear 3D glasses and ride on the back of a banshee through the valley of Mo’ara. This was easily one of the most fun and exciting rides I have ever been on!
Best of all, it was basically the only line we waited in all day. We had a FastPass for Navi River Journey, which was a beautiful boat ride through Pandora. Then we ate lunch at Satu’li Canteen in Pandora. Here they have build your own bowls, hamburger bao buns, and 2 dessert options. We had the bowls for lunch, and since they were so delicious… we returned for dinner and had the bao buns with the chocolate cake dessert.
The bowls were very yummy, the bao buns were…different. They were actually pretty tasty but basically just a very bready hamburger. Finally, the chocolate cake was really good. Overall, 8.5/10. 🙂
We made it to the majority of the rides and had a FastPass for almost all of them! We rode Kilimanjaro Safari, Dinosaur, Expedition Everest, Primeval Whirl, It’s Tough To Be a Bug, and we visited Rafiki’s Planet Watch where we got to meet….
We also got to meet Dug and Russel…
and Mickey and Minnie!
and I got to meet one of my roommates in person for the first time… Dana!!! We hugged for like a minute straight.
And we finished the night with some dole whip and the Animal Kingdom nighttime shows, which include the Rivers of Light and the Tree of Like Awakenings. Both were very pretty and I especially loved seeing the Tree of Life all lit up!
I had the most amazing time at Animal Kingdom with my mom and I am SO ready for her to come back and visit so that we can do it all again at a different park.
